COVID-19 Polices

In order to ensure that our in-person learning and riding is as safe as possible, we are taking extra precautions. Below is a summary of steps we are taking, and steps that we ask you to take, in order to make our environment safe for all.

COVID Vaccination Update:

As we adhere to the state of New York's evolving guidelines, it's important we share these essential requirements:

  • As of January 1st, 2022: ALL children ages 5+ must have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • As of January 29th, 2022: ALL children ages 5+ must have received full vaccination in order to participate.

A. Key COVID-19 prevention measures:

  • All NBW staff are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

  • All NBW volunteers (in-person) are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

  • Please stay at home if you are sick or have any symptoms of Covid-19 (regardless of vaccination status), including fever or chills, cough, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, headache, muscle or body aches, or sore throat. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure.

  • If you test positive for Covid-19 (with or without symptoms), you must let us know as soon as possible so we may alert any close contacts at NBW. Please see below for when you are able to return after a positive test.

  • All NBW staff, volunteers, and students are required to wear face masks over mouth and nose at all times while indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

  • In order to allow for social distancing, there will be only 10 children at a time in each in-person session.

  • Children and adults will wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer when they come inside our space.

  • Parents and family members will be encouraged to remain outside at pick up and drop off. If adults must come inside, they are required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Staff will monitor and enforce this.

  • Staff will wipe down all tables with disinfectant between sessions and at end of the day.

  • Staff will wipe down doorknobs and faucets with disinfectant at the beginning and end of the day.

Following these guidelines will help ensure the safety of the entire NBW community. Thank you for your cooperation.

In the event that there is a case of Covid-19 in our community, we have outlined some guidelines, below, for you to follow:

B. Positive Case of Covid-19:

  1. If a child, staff member, or volunteer tests positive for Covid-19, all close contacts of the positive person will be contacted by Bostjan. Close contacts include anyone who was in the space at the same time as the positive person. The person who tests positive is required to quarantine for 5 days. All volunteers and children in the same time slot as the positive case will not come in to NBW for 5 days from day of exposure and anyone who is unvaccinated should also quarantine at home.

  1. Any person confirmed with COVID-19 must stay home (isolate) until all the following are true:

  •  At least 10 days have passed since the person’s symptoms started

  • They have not had a fever for the last 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication

  • Their overall illness has improved. If the person never had symptoms, they should stay home for 10 days from the date they were tested.

  1. See CDC guidelines here.

  2. See NYC Department of Health guidelines here.

These are challenging times, but we are committed to creating the safest environment possible and we appreciate your help in these efforts. We will be following any/all updated health guidelines from the CDC and the New York Department of Health, and we will adapt our policies accordingly. We will, of course, communicate any changes to you.
